As of the writing of this post, Windows 10 version 2004 is the latest release of Windows 10 dubbed as the 2020 May update. While it was available to some through Windows Update since May, many still only see a notification that it will be available soon.
If you have a thing for security and stability, desire the latest and greatest in new features, or if you are simply impatient like me, there is a simple way to initiate upgrading manually.
Visit the download page for Windows 10 and click on the button to Update now button to download the update assistant program that will help you through the process.
After download, simply run the program and initiate the upgrade process and follow the instructions on screen. Be prepared that it will take a lot of time and it will restart your computer multiple times.
All in all, the process was pretty streamlined for me, even if quite slow on my desktop computer. There were no errors after the upgrade except for the missing background image on my laptop.
